Gugelhupf, also known as kugelhupf, is a yeasted cake that’s baked in a bundt cake mold. The name comes from the old German words gugel (“bonnet”) and hupf (“jump”).  It is thought that the name refers to the shape of the cake and the rising (or “jumping”) action of the yeast.  

Our gugelhupf is a marbled combination of chocolate and vanilla, baked as a drier pastry in order to be enjoyed with tea or coffee, and finished with a generous dusting of powdered sugar. 

Traditionally decorated with leaves, fruits or candles, this cake has been enjoyed since medieval times in Austria. Our small gugelhupfs are perfect for a morning snack, while our larger gugelhupfs may be enjoyed with family and friends.
